Sandia workers complain about workshop ad
ALBUQUERQUE (AP) - A dozen National Laboratories employees have objected to the description of an upcoming workshop, saying it implies whites are racist. The workshop is titled “White Privilege and Diversity.” A Sandia spokesman, Michael Padilla, says the lab didn’t write the blurb. Padilla says the lab merely passed along information from 19th annual Diversity Leadership Council Forum in Sandia Daily News, its daily memo to workers. The workshop’s leader, University of New Mexico professor Ricky Lee Allen, and the council’s chairman, Charles Becknell, haven’t returned calls and e-mails from The Associated Press. Here is a comment from another website: "Allen's just another socialist UNM faculty member preaching the Black liberation theology that only whites can be racist. And while doing so he is indoctrinating his students about white guilt and softening them up for another round of government regulations and tax-payer funded bailouts. "
Now I dont think I come from a "racist" state. In fact it is a Minority Majority state. What I do find interesting is that white people seem to get "offended" by saying they have priveledge and automatically jump to being racist. What they mean is that they do not practice racial discrimination, prejudice or hatred. It is a shame that even the media does not correct this but rather stirs the pot even more when they could instead educate on REAL definitions and not the definitions we are taught when we are young. I could go on for days about these two small paragraphs!
